Field Trip to Rome

Today I'd like to share with you an amazing trip I had together with my classmates a few months ago. At our highschool you get two field trips to foregien countries in your three years of school. One in your second year, and one in your last- and third year. As I'm currently in my second year, we got the great opportunity to go on a field trip this spring together with two of our teachers.
It all began with choosing the country/city we'd like to travel to. We could pretty much decide on every big city in all of the countries in Europe. I felt we were very privileged, because we had so many destinations to choose from, whereas most of the other second year classes had to choose between very few choices. After some voting we ended up choosing Rome, Italy as our field trip destination. Originally we had to use the trip as a part of an assignment, which the other classes also had to, but our two teachers choose not to use the trip for our assignment, which we were very content with. But even though we didn't have to do the assignment in conjunction with the trip, we still had a program for everyday, visiting all the famous landmarks in Rome.

We had five days in Rome and the first day was a travel day. It was a pretty tiresome day, because I had to get up at 3:30 AM to be in the airport at 6 AM. Everyone was tired but excited, and we made it through the airport security and into the plane. Even though we were tired, the plane ride was actually quite fun, as we were surrounded by each other and it felt like we had a great little community. We landed in Rome on a cloudy day, and went to our hotel. Our hotel only had two stars but I was very pleasantly surprised with the rooms. We lived in a great area in the city where we could just walk to Colosseum, Forum Romanum, The Spanish Steps and so on. We also saw the Vertican which was colossal and very beautiful. Of course we also tried a lot of delicious foods, such as pizza, pasta and "gelato" which is the Italian translation for "ice cream".
Of course we also went into the city in the evening to have fun, which we did and resulted in almost everyone being hungover every morning, but it was totally worth it.

I was very satisfied with visiting Rome, and especially together with my classmates. The funny thing is that none of us wanted to go home at the end of the five day trip, and I'll remember it forever and what a good trip it was.

We also took loads of pictures and videos over there, and here a some of the pictures I took of beautiful Rome.
